Sometimes, one should look gift horses in the mouth

Gilles: Citizens of Canada, in this time of crisis, I offer this gift as a symbol of unity and responsibility from us, the separatists.

Jack (to Stephane): Its an awfully lovely thing.
Stephane: A beautiful tribute of respect.
Jack: It must have taken them a batallion of carpenters to whip together such an enormous horse.
Stephane: On wheels, no less, so it will be ergonomic to move it in behind the walls of government.
Jack (calling to Gilles): Terrific! We love it! (then to Stephane) Boy, these separatists have really turned a page.
Stephane: They finally want to work for all of Canada. Pinch me, I am dreaming.
Jack (to his caucus): Haul her in, boys.

(The Dipper caucus grabs the giant ropes to pull the spectacular wooden horse into the town square.)

Pat Martin (leading the pull): Awfully heavy this thing. I mean, its enormous and all, but it seems really heavy.

Jack: Just keep pulling.

Pat Martin: I don't know. There's something a little off about it.

Stephane: Shut your mouth! This is a terrific gift of reconciliation between federalists and separatists. Being suspicious gets you no where.

Jack: Yeah, you heard Gilles. He wants to make peace. Separation is over and we won! Isn't that right, Gilles?

Gilles: Of course, my new collaborators, of course.

(a fit of giggles erupts inside the horse)

Gilles: Just ignore that, some of the joints are a little sqeaky. Now, mush! Mush!

Coincidentally, I just watched the Robert Wise-directed Helen of Troy last week and absolutely loved it.

but in reality...
Harper asked for this by putting a confidence motion on everything he whats to push through!... So they called his bluff... Can't take it, then don't though it! plane and simple!

On 630 Ched Rutherford show out of Edmonton and Calgary this morning, callers are urging Albertans to contact Premier Stelmach's office to advise him to prepare a referundum in case the three stooges do gain power. The phone lines are crammed. Wait time estimated at least two hours.

Sarge said everybody out.

"That Gilles guy is a real taskmaster."

Hoplite, morphodite, you all gotta go!

I thought we were fighting for AIDS, said one dip.

I don't want to hear your poliics, said Gilles. It's all Greek to me.
Everybody out!

I just posted this on CG:

If Harper has to go to make that happen, so be it. But the Bloc cannot hold the federal government ransom.

I know that Chucker thinks the world of Harper - I'd bet Harper's the most inspirational politician Chucker's seen in his life, and I remember the story of the first time Chucker ever saw Harper speak and decided to sign up on his team immediately.

That's quite a sacrifice you're willing to offer up in the name of national unity, mister. You're a big person to say so, my friend. Few people would be willing to make such a statement, I think.

What's CG, Bo Green?

link to your post?

CalgaryGrit, I was responding to a comment by Chucker there.

Vote share for the 2008 election

CONSERVATIVE 38%
=============

COALITION 62%
=============

The people have spoken!

Viva la Coalición!

People didn't vote for a coalition
Jacobin you fucking idiot!

you folks should have run as a coalition and see what your vote would have been.... assholes, you admit that you faked your election posturing to get elected because you would have been trounced running as you really are: a coalition.

And I mean it, Bo Green. If Harper has to step down to avoid this, he should. But it steams me mightily that Liberals are so grievously betraying their past commitments to Canada as Canada. In Quebec, they were always the proud Canadians. No longer.

Chuck, do you really believe the GG will opt for this coalition circus?

If the govenment were to fall on a confidence motion, surely she would dissolve parliament and call for an election, no?

If so, isn't PMSH actually then poised on the precipice of a real- dare I say- majority?

swearengen,

LMAO

Anonymous,

I said this in a previous thread:

there is no way the GG will accept this coalition. I just don't believe it for a second.

What you dare to say, you should not say!

But it will be a mighty complicated election for the Dippers, Liberals and Bloc to run. That much, I know.

And I mean it, Bo Green. If Harper has to step down to avoid this, he should.

I know you do.

I can't help but think the Liberals are sort of shooting themselves in the foot here.... I'm sort of taken aback how many don't have second thoughts. But then, I'm taken aback how many Conservatives think Harper is totally clean here. Partisanship brings out the worst in so many people.

I think that you all missed the boat, particularly Springer and the village idiot on CHED talk radio.

Have any of your right wing numb skulls yet figured out what is actually going on?

This scheme was designed by Jean Chretien who is working with his favourite cabinet minister for the environment, to basically sand bag that windbag from Calgary.

The Liberals will allow a small group to support a much chastened Conservative Party AFTER they dumb Harper and Flaherty. That is the real price of their support. The Conservatives will either lose the government or lose Harper. When that happens, the Conservatives will appoint an interim leader, and the next two years will be all about the economy, stupid.

In the next federal election, a new Liberal Leader will lead the Liberals into a majority government following two or more years of Conservative Minorities.

But by then, Harper, Flaherty and the "neocon" Republikans from Calgary will be long gone, perhaps not even a footnote in history.

They blew in from the west like a dust devil with Manning, and they will disappear just as suddenly when Harper is gone.

Thinking Conservatives will understand what is required, Canadian politics is a blood sport, and the Liberals (read Dion and Chretien) want Harper's Head, and they are going to have it.

Swearengen is a weak minded soul with a weaker intelligence. What the people actually voted for, was for their MP who is gong to represent them in Parliament.

It is up to the MPs to decide how they will govern themselves, in their parties, in Parliament, out of Parliament. Period. Parliament is Supreme.

What is going on right now, is the MPs reasserting their power and authority over the "backroom boys" that brought Manning and Harper to Ottawa with their extreme right wing agendas.

Its now obvious that Harper's "monetarism" is now as dead as a door nail, and he has nothing to contribute to Canada.

Harper should resign before he causes even more harm and grief to his party.

Bye Bye Ms. Amerikan Pie!

Joe,

Your a demented old fuck who's stuck in a past long gone.

Your inane ramblings and judgments reflect a bitter and vile excuse of a human being.

What happened Joey, your wife left you for a republican because she longed for a real man?!

Or maybe you were a big disappointment to daddy, and mother, well, she just wasn't the hugging type.

To many downer/uppers and Grateful Dead concerts have burned a hole in that sponge of a brain of yours.

Go back to your porn sites you piece of shit.

Joe,

This from a siphlytic "neocon" who still reads Ayn Rand, and gets a "kick" from a story of a rapist who blows up buildings for his ideological beliefs.

Surely 911 has it roots in the "neocon" movement that meets regularly in the Reformed Libertarian Church of Objectivism.

So what do you do Swearingen, do you get to do the Scarlet Whore clothed in Purple?

Or are you just the scribe for Alan Greenspan's rants that Rand calls a "manifesto"?

Bye Bye Ms. Amerikan Pie!

Why don't you "contemplate your values" and stick your head between your legs, and kiss your ass goodbye?
