Shocking Shock Shocks!!
Today's shocking news:
Stephane Dion thinks George W. Bush is Prime Minister of Australia:
"However, Liberal Leader Stéphane Dion later called for Harper to be expelled from the House of Commons over the affair, in which he said Harper "plagiarized George W. Bush about the Iraq war" in a telling way."
When you can't even get a smear right, nobody's about to hand you the country's largest budget. Meanwhile, from the "I am rubber you are glue" department - hmm.
There's only one issue to settle after this debacle: okay, they've agreed to drive off a cliff, but out of the two, Rae and Dion, who's Thelma and who's Louise?

And this, coming from the Libs? Who just avoided getting their butts sued off over highjacking "Green Shift" from a private business???
Yeah, right.
Can we say, "limp unowhat"?
My wife is so disgusted with the media's coverage of this election, and their insipid fascination for "gotcha" reporting, she has to leave the room when I watch the news.
I don't really blame her, either.
Yeah, right.

Expelled from the House of Common?
Meanwhile, Cherniak calls it "well played". First step to a Lib majority!

Boys, boys, boys, you are supposed to paraphrase the faxed directions Karl Rove sends you.. Very very lazy, no wonder Conservatives are so shit at managing economies, they can´t even be bothered to do a little bit of homework.
Anonymous,
I can't turn on my irony detector. It interferes with my BULLSHIT detector which you have working overtime.

Harper didn't plagerize Howard... a staffer did , and he admitted it. BUT, when DION referred to George W. as the Prime Minister of Austraila, I wonder who was waltzing with Mathilda.
Duffy just now - They didn't put Ignatieff on the job of delivering this message, because of course he was for the war in Iraq...
Watched interview on Politics with Rae.
The ability of Rae to stare into the camera and, with a straight face, engage in one deceit after another was revolting.
Rae merely demonstrated that indeed he is a perfect with the LPC.
Time for the CPC to go nuclear on these bastards, take no prisoners.

As for the Iraq war ...
I don't blame anyone for wanting to take out Saddam Hussein. Most Nato intelligence services believed he may have had, or may have been, developing nukes. His gassing of the Kurds was also commonly known.
So, no WMD's (nukes) were found.
Whether they were removed, or destroyed, or non-existent, too bad!
For Saddam. One less murderous dictator.
Saddam was even offered the chance to leave/abdicate. Fuck him!
They should have flattened him.
As for Chretien, I suspect his decisions about the Iraq war, were based more on his personal ambitions; wanting to distinguish himself from the 'evil' Americans, and pandering to Liberal voters' inferiority/superiority/insecurity complexes, when it comes to the US.
As to what Dion thinks... who cares?
Though, tragically, the mistake was, that the US didn't initially bring in anywhere near enough troops to secure the 'peace'.
One can argue as to what the Iraqi people would have preferred, but it seems most of them now prefer their fledgling democracy.
How sad, that most great changes in history, have always involved such a tragic loss of lives.
How lucky we are, to live in 'this' part of the world.

MT,
There was an election in Quebec going on at the time. Bernard Landry, then premier, hoped and prayed that Chretien went into Iraq as it would give the separatists major mojo.
On balance, Chretien's decision served us well in terms of national unity. History will be happy with that decision even if I am not and even if the Iraq mission achieves its potential.

Bah... it doesn't matter either way. Harper wins whether it's a majority or a minority... the libs are so fucked they'll be rubbing sticks together to light a fire after this election.
Nope. Nothing to see hear. 'Xept maybe them plagarizing dumfuck interns...
yawn..snort.. move along.. nothin' to see here you elitist pigs who can read 'n shit..

You can't possibly tell me that a control freak like toupee king Harper didn't know who his interns were er.... lifting?
Like whatever.

Actually, I've always been disappointed that many/most(?) politicians seem to have speech writers.
You'd think they can at least write an occasional speech for themselves.
Or is that too Churchillian?
At least, on the bright side, this shit probably shouldn't happen again, to any politician. They, or their staff, will now be paying more attention.
But like, after all, this happened in 2003. It seems the Libs are diggin' deep, for their profound tidbits...

Rae by a Technical Knockout!
This is the turning point. Everyone knew that Harper was Emperor George II's lapdog. But no one knew that Karl Rove was writing the speeches for Harper and Howard.
Who and the Hell needs a Canadian Prime Minister that lets Washington write his speeches for him?
Time for the Liberals to put this sucker away. We need a Liberal Majority Government to prevent another Bennett Buggy disaster.
Tory Times are Hard Times!
(some slogans never wear out)

I was going to post the Crop poll, too.
I suspect it was taken after the snit amongst the artsy crowd blew over.
I hope it's accurate.

springer,
its been the same results for months. how could this one not be accurate? you really think deer hunters in Val D'Or give a shit about modern dance troops in downtown Montreal?
The one place rural Quebeckers hate is not Rest of Canada.... its Montreal!
I was 3,000 feet underground talking to miners who would tell me they are too scared to walk Ste-Catherine street at night. I was laughing so hard! We are 3,000 undergorund. We are handling explosives. People get crushed and die down here and you are worried about Ste-Catherine street????

big sample to give +/- 3%, but long in the field: sept 18-28. they aren't saying what trends were within the 11 days.
Scott's Feschuk's Inconvenient Truth:
the truth is that Harper was speaking in response to a supply day motion from the Bloc. He probably had 24 hours notice...his speechwriter panicked and swiped a lot of the boilerplate history...
Inconvenient to those determined to see a greater conspiracy here

Maclean's bloggers were so quiet last week that the blog the reporter covering May's train had the run of the blog, but during yesterday's Rae Day the pundits were tripping over each other to jump into a s***-storm of crazed insuation.
You'd expect Coyne to be excitable and Feshchuk to be partisan, but things got so silly that the sanest blog entry is Coyne's and the sanest posting is Feshuck's.
