Re-Use, Re-Cycle, Re-Welcome Blair Wilson, Green MP

To my mind, this was a highly silly move. Does the Green Party really need an MP that bad? Are its prospects of actually getting one elected so grim that a caucus cast-off was about the only chance for a Green MP in the coming years? I guess so.

Too bad - there's a candidate in Westmount-VilleMarie's byelection that has Garth Truner potential, albeit with much greater hair. Evidence is here, here and here with his web ads. Mediocre lefties are going to be approximating Obama-talk for the next decade -and like this guy, they'll mostly be painful to watch. Note that Blair Wilson invalidates these commercials and therefore, the cynical Greens are peddling false advertising.

If Mr. Wilson can win in West Vancouver - Sunshine Coast, I'll eat my hat. He has been on his way out the door since his irregularities were first reported. Now that he's a Green, his chances for re-election have nose-dived.

May is desperate to be included in the debates so she can scare up more cash, I mean votes, in the next election.
She was interviewed on CTV today and they let her talk and talk. Funny thing is she never talked party or platform and barely mentioned Wilson. She went on at length about how this means the Greens deserve a debate chair.
I say let her get official party status and not poach dead Liberals and claim she did something special. All that crap about finally having a Green in a first-past-the-post country means nothing if your member is simply a floor-crosser.
It reflects very poorly on her.

Something like 5% of Canadians cast their votes for the Green Party. That SHOULD have translated into something like 15 seats for the Green Party, IF we in fact operated a proper democracy in Canada, and it would also mean that the Harpercons would not be as arrogant as they now are in trying to defeat themselves in order to call an election before the US goes to the polls.

Most certainly any party with a reasonable chance of winning seats in Parliament at the current threshold for Party recognition or 12 seats, should automatically be given a place in the public debates so that voters can be informed of the various positions of the Parties.

As far as I am concerned, this is just one more item that needs to be taken away from the political parties and organized by the Chief Electoral Officer. The very last thing Canadian democracy needs is for the money bags in Calgary to be dictating who can and cannot participate in the public debates designed to inform voters.

We need a total ban on corporate and union donations, as well as a total ban on funds that are not directly sourced by canadian citizens. Period.

It should be a criminal offence to pervert election funding, as the Harper Conservatives did in the last election. Furthermore, in such situations where a Party cheats under the elections act, any seats won in such processes should be vacated by the Chief Electoral Officer. The jail time does not have to be long, but a month in jail as opposed to fines, will make all the political classes take notice that there are real consequences to cheating in elections.

In other words, molarmouth agrees that the Conservative Floor Crosser from BC in terms of the Harper Minister of Trade, reflects poorly on the party.

It is hard to believe that right wing crazies even have a morality, let alone being capable of impartial behavior.

Perhaps I have a way-too vivid imagination, but when I heard this story I wondered if the Liberals had a hand in the strategy?

I mean, what a great way to take the focus off of Dion's poor English in a Leadership Debate! Ms. May will have a hard time keeping quiet when it's someone else's turn. If Dion starts stammering and May breaks in to rescue him, wouldn't that be convenient?

Joanne has it right. Elizabeth May is a motormouth, and the moderators of a debate would probably allow her to prattle on at will - I'm sorry to say - because she's a woman.

The networks should organize two sets of debates if they intend to allow Elizabeth May to participate. English-French debates for the Conservative, Liberal, and NDP leaders. Another set for the Bloc, Green and maybe Rhino leaders, if there's still one.

Good idea, Gabby.

Another possibility is to have one debate called the "Prime Minister" debate, and another for leaders of all parties.

The PM debate would allow only those leaders in serious contention for the position. It might sound a bit American, but in reality there are only two men who could possibly be the next PM. Let's focus on that.

On the other hand, the way things are going maybe Layton could end up being the next Leader of the Official Opposition.

So, back to your idea. ;)

Deb Grey was the only elected Reform MP, years ago. Was Preston Manning included in the debate leading up to the next election because Reform had an elected member. What was the media buzz about that, anyone remember.
Were guidelines set at that time.
Mary T.

That riding was longime Reform, Alliance and CPC with John Reynolds as the MP for those parties. From what I understand, Blair Wilson did not win by much. So given the tendencies of that riding and Wilson's shenanigens, I don't think he has a chance of keeping his seat in the next election .

"So, back to your idea. ;) "

Thanks for your support, but I doubt that anyone else will agree.

I just hope that Quebecers will decide to dump the useless Bloc. There have been some Quebec journalists like Michel Vastel (who unfortunately passed away a few days ago) calling for the demise of the Bloc. It's about time Bloc members got other jobs.

Oh yeah, May is the Liberal answer to Dions piss poor english debating skills. If she's in, he can sit back and watch her go treehugger green quotely half truths and backalley science on Harper, who will be too polite to rebute her very hard for fear of looking like a prick.

Course, it could also make Dion look the idiot even more, so it might be a double edged sword for the liberals.

Yes, the Green Party needs a member of parliament that bad. It provides Elizabeth May an entre' to any debates. This should be good news for all the other parties, because every time this moron opens her mouth something exceedingly stupid pops out.
I say give her a voice in any upcoming debates because this will be the surest way to lay this conglomeration of brain-dead idiots to rest.

Elizabeth May is a moron and I don't trust her version of the Green Party the way I suspect I would Chernushenko's. But my personal feelings aside, I think she should be in the debate. They're a national party running in every riding. The idea that separatists deserve a place in Ottawa and in the debates but environmentalists - no matter how clueless their leader may be - don't is silly to me. I don't know if they "deserve" to be in the debates, but if Duceppe is there, May ought be as well.

OMG those ads are BRILLIANT!!

You just made my day! That guy could become a national treasure on YouTube if he keeps this up! I love his style -- Saturday Night Live should completely hire him.

I agree Jason... The Green Party runs a candidate in every riding (nearly) and they probably should get a nod on the televised debates.

Besides which, she's publicly come out and said Dions going the wrong way on the Green Shift.

Perhaps I wouldn't want to be Dion stuck between May and Layton, fending off Harper.

I think Duceppes on non-issue in this election. bye bye Blocheads.

Stop and think for a minute folks.
Why would anyone want to elect a Green government? And,no, I'm not talking about that idiot Joe Green as PM.
This country needs more than organic vegetables and tractor fule made out of corn or pig shit.A one track minded government bent on "green" would have us back in the stone age quicker than Guisseppe can respond to a comment about his dick.Having candidates in every riding won't help Lizzie become PM.Fuck, it won't even help her buy tampons.. assuming she still needssthem, that is.Does being educated help Dion? About as much as it does Joe Green.A pair of dolts, both of them.Nah, the Green Party is fucked. So are Steffie, Bobby and Iggy.Harper hasn't always been in my good books but I'll vote for his party because they work best for me.

But.. but.. May has endorsed Dion as Prime Minister.. why should the same party coalition have two different leaders in the same debate? If anything she should share Dion's time slot.

Ole Squid the fascist is fucked. Here is why.

Elections are always about the future, not the past.

What is past is the Reform Party that currently dominates the REAL Progressive Conservative Party of Canada. When Harper fails to even win back a minority government, the knives will be out, and he will be gone.

The same fate awaits the Bloc in Quebec. Theirs is a past that leads to a dead end for Quebecers and for their Party.

What is the future, is the following. First, the Green Party will gain up to 10% of the popular vote, and that SHOULD translate into 30 seats if our system was in fact democratic and fair, which it is not. The Bloc will fall to very low levels, perhaps under the twelve seats required to maintain their party status in Parliament. The NDP is going nowhere, except down if Canadians even percieve that Harper might gain over the Liberals.

That of course leaves REAL Canadian Conservatives like Joe Clark and David Orchard to rebuild the Progressive Conservative Party, after they run off the fascists like Harper, Mulroney and Karl Heinz, their Swiss based financier. This afterall parallels what is now taking place with Senator McCain and the REAL Republican Party as they deal with their fascists in the US, starting with the Nazi banking family and criminal gang aka The Bush Family.

Its a cleansing that will bring about sharp and necessary regulation of the oil and gas industry in the US and Canada. It also means new people with new ideas and new approaches, under President Barak Obama and Prime Minister Stephane Dion.

The best part is how the Calgary Oil Barons are going to be driven to the wall, and told to either tow the line or fuck off, rather like what Prime Minister Jean Chretien did to Talisman when that Company's CEO refused to abide by the laws of Canada and began funding the civil war in Sudan on the side of the Marxists in Khartoum.

As for you Ole Squid, like I wrote earlier, there is no quarter asked and no quarter given. You are the counterpart to the Taliban, and the only way to deal with your kind is to sidetrack you, imprison you for crimes, or make you join Charleston Heston with his guns in his "cold dead hands".

Your kind are boldfaced liars, its your stock and trade, and the BIG LIE is your particular "talent".

Very few people have NO REDEEMING VALUE, and you and Springer are two such creatures.

I have often suggested that you should point your nose south and follow it, but that would not be a very kind thing to do to our neighbors. Perhaps instead we should just escort you to Bora Bora where you can join your ideological brother in arms, and become target practice for the NATO forces in Afghanistan.

History teaches, that the only good fascist, is a dead fascist.

I think it teaches the same thing about fanatics.

"But.. but.. May has endorsed Dion as Prime Minister.. why should the same party coalition have two different leaders in the same debate? If anything she should share Dion's time slot."

agreed. but lately, Duceppe has implicitly endorsed Stephane Dion too. Just last week, he said that the "Bloc was the only party in his area to stop the Harper government."

Anyone who joins an "anyone but Harper" coalition is defacto endorsing Stephane Dion for Prime Minister. Especially someone who has no intention of vying for that job himself.

chucker wrote...

"Anyone who joins an "anyone but Harper" coalition is defacto endorsing Stephane Dion for Prime Minister."

Precisely.

Canadians who love this country have a patriotic duty to destroy fascism that has reared its ugly head in Canada. First with Harris and with Klein, who have now been FORCED out of office, and now the bastard offspring of Ted Morton and the Amerikan Republikans that surround him like Jason Kenney.

We need to DESTROY this political thread in Canada.

THIS election is about the destruction of fascism in Canada, just like the US Presidential election is really about the total destruction of corporate fascism in the United States.

Canadians KNOW how to vote strategically, which I am sure is all too well known to Jack Layton.

We do not need a Liberal Majority but at a minimum we need a Liberal Minority with the NDP controlling the balance. That has worked before, and it can work again.

The point is that Harper will be gone if he loses what he now has.

I predict a major loss for the "neocons" particularly in Alberta where the political winds have changed directions.

One last point Chucker, working to destroy fascism is no more fanatical then doing surgery to remove malignant cancers.

This country went to war to destroy corporate fascism in Germany and in Italy during the Second World War. We OWE it to those Canadians that perished in that battle to make sure that the stain of fascism NEVER remains in the True North Strong and Free.

Like them, what I seek is total and unconditional surrender. Nothing more and nothing less.

Hmm.. and with the Bloc being increasingly irrelevent maybe there's the opportunity for the obliteration of that party once and for all.

The NDP/Liberals take the Montreal seats and the Tories take everything else.

Sounds like a good deal to me.

One last point. We need to reconvene the Nuremburg Trials to arrest and put Emperor George II, Dick Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld, Paul Wolfwitz, Richard Perle and Billy Krystol on trial for war crimes and crimes against humanity.
They plotted the torture, murder and death of over one million innocent civilians, women and children in Iraq, and have secretly funded criminal and illegal acts in other countries around the globe.

And much as I oppose the death sentence, if they are found guilty, they should hang by the neck until dead. Just like their former business partner, Saddam Hussein.

You do not seem to understand, that its the Harpercon fascists that are going to be the big losers in Ontario and Quebec. Most of those lost Bloc votes are going to go to the Liberals and NDP. The Greens will pick up a large contingent of voters, particularly in Quebec.

Only a major defeat to the Harpercons on the scale previously delivered to the Mulroney "necons" will FORCE the Progressive Conservatives to clean their party of all the electoral fraud, corruption, lying and cheating that has been associated with Harper and his minions. The scale of their crimes dwarf anything that the Liberals ever did in Quebec.

And the treachery of the corporate fascists that Harper leads is truely as breathtaking as any of the crimes committed by Emperor George II in Washington.

That is why they must be destroyed in the coming elections.

We have not faced such a threat to our national security since the War of 1812.

Joe Green,Take a hike..Your idiotic rantings are more suited for a Commie country. If we want to here your kind of BS we will FLUSH THE TOILET.As far as May is concerned,it shows you how desperate the MSM are that they even mention her name. Its like taking some drunk out of the gutter and giving him a front page interview. What exactly has May done for Canada, what has she done as a leader, what has she done as the green party leader, what are the green parties policies other than screw Canada out of billions of dollars, for what?

What political winds in Alberta have changed, even a little. Notice the majority of Conservative seats recently won. Notice that libs lost seats in the election. Strange thing is that will all the influx of workers from Liberal provinces, these workers vote conservative after being here a while. I think PMSH will take all AB seats.

Amonymous, you are a conniving and manipulating purveyor of the Big Lie, because underneath all the misleading bullshit you present, underneath it all, you are advancing corporate fascism.

And your statements are filled with half truths and lies. Consider your bald statement:

"What exactly has May done for Canada, what has she done as a leader, what has she done as the green party leader, what are the green parties policies other than screw Canada out of billions of dollars, for what?"

When you say "screwing Canada" that is a lie, the People of Canada benefit from Green House gas credit sales because of the inherent taxes and other monies that acrue to the public of Canada. So obviously, public tax policy that punishes polluting industries are NOT screwing Canada, Canadians, or for the most part Canadian individuals and corporations. The real group whose ox is being gored is the Houston Oil Barons and their Little Brothers in Calgary.

That however, is not a bad thing. Big Oil hs been cheating Canadians for decades now. You only have to look at the royalty regime in place in Alberta to understand that it was the most generous regime in the world for Big Oil. And Big Oil kept subverting democracy in Alberta for foreign money that bribed and perverted our elections in this Province. Peter Lougheed was trained by the "neocons" at Harvard as an "agent of influence".

As far as I am concerned, Big Oil in Houston is cut from the same cloth as Royal American Shows from Tampa Florida, where they used to come to Canada to flaunt our laws until the Mounties ran their sorry drug dealing asses right out of the country.

That is precisely the same thing required today toward Big Oil in Houston. They are the ones that fund the perversion of our democracy with secret political donations that funded the elections of baffoons and drunks like Mike Harris and Ralph Klein.

They fund wars in the middle east, and they fund revolutions in places like Sudan and South America.

So anomymous, you can stick your bullshit up your own Royal American, or stick it where the Sun don't shine, because no one is misled anymore.

You say you are opposed to Harpercons, but you are also against every other political aspect of Canadian democracy, starting with Parliament.

You are a little man who has no appreciation for the sacrifice of so many Canadians that came before us and make our freedom (including our freedom from the Houston Oil Barons as well as the Russian Bolsheviks possible).

Bye Bye Ms. Amerikan Pie!

Mary, if you are an astute observer of Alberta Politics, you by now would have noticed that Stelmach has dramatically shifted the Alberta political agenda away from the Houston Big Oil crowd and their little brothers in Calgary.

In Alberta, power has shifted away from Calgary, toward Edmonton and the northern rural areas of Alberta. There is now a dramatic realignment of government power, regulation, taxation, and services in Alberta because of it.

Now I realize that the Houston Oil Barons thought they had Jim Dinning in their pocket, while their other man, Ted Morton, just might have squeaked through with an even more favorable agenda for Big Oil.

But that is not what happened.

Stelmach ran third for the leadership of the Conservatives. By winning that contest, he has given the "neocons" a serious, some would say a fatal setback. He has solidified his position by a better than expected result in the general election.

And you are naive and dumb when you do not understand to what extent card carrying Liberals PUSHED Stelmach into power, because the Liberal Leadership under Kevin Taft ITSELF was a Conservative stocking horse that itself originated in the Getty Government.

Well the reality is that the "neocons" have suffered a severe and fatal setback. Power has shifted away from Calgary. Corruption has suffered a severe setback with the firing of the entire Klein installed regional health boards.

And make no mistake, Stelmach has finally started to address the social deficit created by the neocons under Klein. Over $2B for funding the teachers pension fund liabilities, over $2B for low cost housing, sharp increases for AISH recipients, with elimination of Health care premiums for seniors, and soon the complete elimination of this illegal "tax" on the part of the Province.

There are now FINALLY large and substantial increases in repairs to Alberta infrastructure that had been neglected for a decade or longer under the drunken "neocon" that was the previous premier.

There has been sharp increases in funding for the Universities as well, including those in Calgary, Edmonton, with many new post secondary facilities now being finally funded in rural areas as well.

And finally, large releases of public lands in Ft. McMurray to break the back of out of control housing costs created by the "market economy" of that local region that was so perverted by Big Oil that most of the private sector service industries were no longer willing to go there.

Yes indeed, the winds of change have been blowing in Alberta. And they are all signalling the demise of the "neocon" fascist agenda in Canada.

Mary for all your protestations of being a "conservative" supporter, you sure as hell do not know very much about what is actually going on inside the Stelmach caucus, do you?

Why not just admit that you are part of the right wing extremist chattering classes, that more rightly belong in the National Post and the FOX News Network.

...Joe Green = Lyin Neo-Marxist...

...Fuck-Off Joe your're ruining it for all us Neo-Cons...

"She went on at length about how this means the Greens deserve a debate chair."

That's because job 1 of hers was to get the party into the televised debates. It's not right, but most Canadians don't think a party is legitimate until the media says they are by giving them a platform at the most watched political event(s) in the country. It's the only thing that can move public discussion from "the Conservatives, Liberals, and NDP, to "the Conservatives, Liberals, NDP, and Greens."

McCain

It's pretty obvious that Joe Green has nothing better to do than read the MSM "truths", attach his own interpretation to them and puke it out here to educate us 'neocons' to the facts of life.
Fuck off Joey, you're the worst kind of idiot.... an educated one !

hey, Joey Boy!
There's a sale on Maple Leaf products at your nearest grocery store!

Wow... I mean wow. A half a dozen rants, multiple mentions of the "Evil" oil Barons of Calgary, and Joe Green didn't insult me once...

I feel lonely now.

Hmmm... what I need is a gun-toting, corruption busting, religious right wingnut to make me feel better... I wonder if Sarah Palin rents out.

She could keep my seat warm at the Nuremburgh Trials... oh wait, those happened FIFTY years ago, and she's a little young.

We could have a new set of trials... call em' "The Msrx Trails", and we could put people like Chavez, Castro, Putin, that freaky Iranian guy, Imadinnerjacket on trial.

Or even Chretien. After all, thanks to him for 13 years First Nations members found their lives getting worse, their water and education getting crappier, and living conditions reminiscent of a third world. Seems to me he ranks in there.

Your right Joe Green, we should have some trials, and it should be focused on all those wonderful do-gooders who spent so much time taking money from people who didn't need it, and instead of giving to those who did, they lined their pockets.

You know, guys like former UN Secretary General Kofi Anan. Guy with a heart of gold, and a wallet with other peoples money.

Yep... thank god for all us fiscally Conservative, Libertarians... otherwise how would any of these socially tinkering fuckers have managed to get away with what they have with our money.

Sing with me Joe Green, just follow the bouncing welfare cheque.

"Unbreakable union of freeborn republics
Great Russia has welded forever to stand!
Created in struggle by will of the people
United and mighty, our Soviet land!

CHORUS:

Sing to the Motherland, home of the free,

Bulwark of people, in brotherhood strong!

Oh! Party of Lenin! The strength of the people.

To Communism's triumph lead us on!

2.
Through tempests the sunrays of freedom have cheered us
Along the new path where great Lenin did lead!
To a righteous cause he raised up the people
Inspired them to labor and valorous deed!

CHORUS
3.
In the victory of Communism's deathless ideal,
We see the future of our dear land
And to her fluttering scarlet banner,
selflessly true, we always shall stand!"

Make sure you get the pitch right though... people have died for singing it off-key.

I will not eat Joe Green eggs and ham I will not eat them Sam I am.

Saskboy:

How does poaching an independent MP translate into a party deserving a seat in the debates? Especially when said party leader has already endorsed someone else as being PM?

Its not even like how the NDP supported Martin on some legislation and then campaigned against him. She outright endorsed someone else to be PM.

That good old comic Joe Green is the only humanoid (I use that word loosely) that I have ever encountered in print that has the magnificient ability to spew out bull shit from his mouth and blow smoke out of his ass at the same time. Get a life Joe .
