Parole Day for Prisoner 24601
June 7th, 2021.
Prisoner 24601 enters the the small conference room in the west wing of a maximum security prison in Kingston, Ontario. He sits in the empty chair opposite three sobre-looking chaps each with thick folders before them.
Probation Officer 1: 24601, you have served 11 of your 15 year sentence for the intergeneration crime of climate change denial. As such, we are required to assess your eligibility for parole. We have conducted a pre-assessment review of your file and are happy to report that you have been a model prisoner and fully deserving of parole should you pass the final test. How does that sound?
24601: Excellent, indeed.
Probation Officer 2: What we must establish today, 24601, is that you show remorse for your crimes. We know you have done well in your rehabilitation programs, but we must hear from you directly whether or not you regret your crimes and understand how destructive they are to civilization.
24601: Absolutely. I am ashamed that I did not embrace the challenge of climate change from the get-go. I am ashamed to have thought of Al Gore as anything less than the greatest person in history.
Probation Officer 3: So, you accept anthropogenic global warming?
24601: Without reservation. I know that last year was simultaneously the 3rd, 11th and 22nd warmest year on record. I know that low-activity hurricane seasons prove global warming as much as high-activity seasons. I know the sun plays no role in global climate. I reject any reference to places where ice is accumulating and consider relevant only those areas where it is melting. Climate change denial is the basest crime a human can commit. A vulgarity of historic proportions.

Probation Officer 2: True enough, 24601, but we have to be practical. Now, in the freed world, you will be assigned living space in dormitory #3 of living quarters 17, outside Pembroke. Your wife lives in dormitory #6 of the same living quarters, so you will be with family.

Probation Officer 3: Yes. With 49 other courageous fighters of climate change. In order to save the planet, we had to reduce our living footprints. Mass dormitories was the only option.

He says that Muslims could choose to have marital disputes or financial matters dealt with in a Sharia court. He added Muslims should not have to choose between "the stark alternatives of cultural loyalty or state loyalty".
Dr Williams said there was a place for finding a "constructive accommodation" in areas such as marriage - allowing Muslim women to avoid Western divorce proceedings.
Other religions enjoyed such tolerance of their own laws, he pointed out, but stressed that it could never be allowed to take precedence over an individual's rights as a citizen.

They called those times "The Inquisition".
Frankly, when a highly esteemed "scientist" starts ranting in essentially the same terms, in the 21st century no less, we have a pretty solid indication of just how entirely off the scale of basically fundamentalist extremism this global warming and Kyoto shit has stretched to.
It obviously does not even any longer occur to this guy that there are at least as many scientists in this world who pretty much think those touting this global warming shtick have their heads up their asses...and not just a little bit.
I often have said here that this crap has all the makings of religious zealotry, from marginalizing opponents as heretics to actual persecution...not to mention freaks on street corners screaming about a literal judgment day upon civilization.
I was obviously was not overstating the situation.

Boy are you jerks in for a surprise!
Harper is going to fail in delivering his own misguided promise of holding an election in 2009 by his inability to work with the opposition for the good of Canada and Canadians. This set of manipulations has been described as "childish" in terms of giving the Senate "deadlines" etc, etc.
Harper is going to crash and burn because "he was too clever by a half" and defeated himself.
Dion has demonstrated to Canadians that he is on top of things in Afghanistan, and that he understands, unlike Harper, that you do not play games with Canada's military alliances.
My guess is that Harper will go down for the count. I give the Tories no more than 45 seats.

Harper is going to fail in delivering his own misguided promise of holding an election in 2009 by his inability to work with the opposition for the good of Canada and Canadians. This set of manipulations has been described as "childish" in terms of giving the Senate "deadlines" etc, etc.
Harper is going to crash and burn because "he was too clever by a half" and defeated himself.
Dion has demonstrated to Canadians that he is on top of things in Afghanistan, and that he understands, unlike Harper, that you do not play games with Canada's military alliances.
My guess is that Harper will go down for the count. I give the Tories no more than 45 seats.

It appears to me, that Ezra Lavant just did not learn from his past experiences with the libel and slander laws of Canada, and he persists in injuring the reputations of others who are critical of his extreme right wing views.

The Manley Report, correctly, stated our actual requirements, and it properly regarded the principles of a defence treaty, namely its about collective security, common purpose, and shared responsibility, shared fighting, and shared costs for military actions against our common enemies, Al Quada and other islamo-terrorists.
American leadership of NATO, which has been usually well done since the time of Ike Eisenhower down through the Clinton years in Kosovo, have been severely damaged by Emperor George II and his entourage of right wing extremists in the White House. The Iraq War was a war for oil, completely unconnected from the true fight against those that were responsible for the 911 attacks.

Stephane Dion is absolutely correct in placing the emphasis upon all the other things that must be done to actually stabilize Afghanistan, and that is MOSTLY foreign aid, training and the like. Increasingly, Afghanistan MUST provide for its own security.

The stupidity of not making post war plans by the Americans have damaged antiquities in Iraq that are the patrimony of that nation that the Americans say they wish to preserve, but which they abandoned to looters and thieves when they disbanded the armed forces of Iraq following the invasion.
Its American stupidity in its Foreign Policy that has made the job of the Canadian Armed Forces even harder than it needed to be, and its primarily the explanation as to why so many European Countries are reluctant to follow the American lead, when its so obviously flawed in its policies.
The disaster and the tragedy of Iraq is now plainly obvious for all to see, and it would appear that John McCain, who is a decent sort of person but seems about to step into making Richard Nixon's mistakes in Viet Nam by trying to secure "peace with honour" in a long ago lost war.

Calgary Cowboys are the most embarrassing thing that Albertans have to endure. Just look at the nonsense by Joe Fell Off A Cow in Calgary.
Everyone knows that Afghans are NOT Arabs. For the most part, they are Pashtoons, that are tribal groups closely related to Pakistan.
And just to make sure stupid "neocons" do not post any more similar stupidity, I am going to point out here that Iranians are NEITHER Arabs NOR Pashtoons.
However, Emperor George II, in a fit of madness rather like Nero fiddling while Rome burned, decided to bring "democracy" to Iraq by creating a Pan-Shite Federation from Iran through Iraq, Syria and onto Lebanon. This towering Amerikan genius has the idea that "democracy" works best with the Mullahs in Tehran in charge of everything.
No doubt Joe Calgary's next job will be to bring "democracy" to Venezula so that Hugo Presidente can be replaced by a "Genuine Amerikan Made Part".
