A Proof is a Proof is a Proof
For my money, the above is the single best quote Jean Chretien ever made. While I did not and do not agree with the position taken on Iraq, I admired the simple yet unavoidable logic of his statement.
Let's now apply this to the second great Montebello conspiracy - the one about the police infiltrating the protest industry in an attempt to turn the protestors into the infected zombies of 28 days later.
There are two main pieces of evidence.
The first are the boots - Vibram boots that can be purchased, well, basically everywhere - from Browning to Cabela's.
The second comes from the boss man of CUPE (a union of which I was a member for 4 months in Tumbler Ridge, BC). Here's his damning evidence:
"I looked him in his eye and said 'You're a cop aren't you?' and his eyes just glazed right up," Coles tells a crowd in the video."
Glazed eyes on a protestor? You don't need to be judge Judy to figure this guy is guilty. Glazed eyes? I mean, nothing I know could produce glazed eyes. And if I could name something that produces glazed eyes, it certainly wouldn't be anything associated with the protest industry --- maybe in the 60s, but not now. Never. No way. Glazed eyes? Impossible! Next, they'll tell me these obvious infiltrators had a bad case of the munchies.

I know, I thought the whole 'glazed right up' business was just silly. Their only point that raises suspicions is the fact that none of the three are recorded as being arrested despite having walked through a police line and been handcuffed.
Part of me though, thinks that something smells rotten about the whole business. But that could just be last week's dinner in the fridge...

Yes, nothing to see here. All perfectly normal. Absolutely nothing whatsoever out of the ordinary in the treatment of these "protesters"... nothing at all. I hear the police routinely do NOT take off masks from people they take into custody. Why you'd have to be a complete crackpot to think that was in the slightest bit unusual.
So, those three "protestors" were ready to be pepper-sprayed by cops and beaten with plexi-glass riot shields... but gave themselves up because they were talked down to by a man in a business suit trying to pull off their mask?
Are you serious?
I thought the protests were silly to begin with, but come on peoples. Think about it for yourself. Nothing about the actions of those three "protestors" or how they were treated by cops (not booked for being arrested, not de-masked) makes any sense if you look at how the other protestors acted and what happened to them when they were arrested.
Everything happens for a reason. Those "protestors" weren't booked after being handcuffed and arrested like the others. Give me one good reason why.

Well, if we're talking conspiracies, is it not conceivable that the alleged cops-as-protesters are actually POSING as inept-cops-acting-like-protesters?
Maybe if protesters did not hide their identity behind masks at the next melee and instead wore a badge of courage instead of masks when they participate in the next pitched battle ...

Sure Gabby, that makes sense... but only if the riot cops weren't really riot cops, which is why they didn't book those protesters after arresting them.
Red Tory..they took the mask off at least one in the video..
How many people were arrested anyway at the summit?

We're missing the bigger issue here people. While the blogosphere is abuzz discussing what constitutes a triangle, our sovereignty over our jellybeans is being taken away. Can't you see? It's all connected.
Kursk — You're being disingenuous again. Yes, one of the "protesters" had his mask pulled down briefly. He then put it back in place and carried on. That was prior to being "arrested". The photos of them in custody show they still have their masks on.
Gabby — Your "theory" still doesn't explain the bizarre behaviour of the police. But do keep trying to dissemble and obfuscate.

Watch the video Chucker.
The "protestors" look and act in a very suspicious manner. Their behaviour before and during their arrest doesn't make sense. If they are indeed policemen on or off duty no-one should support their actions. This shouldn't be a partisan issue.

RT: I suppose you've never seen videos of criminals being escorted to courthouses and using whatever is available (shirts, coats, newspapers, etc..) to hide their identity. It happens a lot because people know that someone might be taking a video and it could be posted online and then the whole world would know where they were and what they were doing!
Why the police wouldn't pull down their masks right away? Maybe the protesters just asked them to wait until they were someplace else. Which makes even more sense if what I say below is correct.
surecure: the 'protesters' gave themselves up because the man in the business suit started yelling that they were police officers and attacked them. (grabbing at their mask) If I was them, I'd rather turn myself into the police than face the wrath of an angry mob.
Why weren't the protesters booked? Why should they have been? Did they break some law? And even if they did, was it grievous enough to press charges?
Maybe after that chat with the police officer they decided to turn themselves in rather than go back and face the other protesters who now all believe that they were police. So the police put them in handcuffs (in case they're just trying to be sneaky) and walk them away from the site, uncuff them, and let them go. They have no grounds to arrest them, since the three 'protesters' were asking for help to get out of a sticky situation.
I think something is fishy about this whole business too, but I'm willing to bet there is a good explanation and I'm willing to hear what the police have to say before I jump all over them.

I'm trying to remember what the famous "Fighting Van Doos" are famous for.
Oh, yeah...
Fighting.
Maybe someone should remind Quebec politicians...and Layton.
You know, the ones who "don't want to play politics" on the backs of our soldiers.
Bunch of buttheads.

Well, I guess some of you guys have to give your heads a shake:

I guess some things just aren't as obvious to some people.

Like I said, I thought something sounded fishy/rotten. But jumping to conclusions is hardly a good practice, its much preferable to keep an open mind to all possibilities.
Even the possibility that you might be wrong. As apparently we were.

Yes, keeping an open mind is a good thing. And I wasn't like the Lefties who were automatically calling for the heads of the Police.
I simply thought that the pathetically bad acting by the police involved (both those in disguise and those who faked the arrest) were sillier than the whole "glazed right up" bit you talked about. It just seemed so laughably bad that I couldn't understand how anybody was buying into the idea that these guys were legit protestors.
As I said, if you simply put it down to the fact that these guys, as protestors, were supposed to be ready to be yelled at by cops in riot gear, pepper sprayed, beaten down with shields and violently arrested... and yet they ran away at the site of a man in a business suit? Come on... it's SO obvious that it's a joke.

Pie on your face?
It doesn't bother me that the cops had plants, but that they paraded around as masked anarchists carrying weapons is disgraceful. What purpose does it serve walking around with a rock, at a union protest? They could have shown up in suits and not looked out of place. Any pictures or media videos now show burly men carrying weapons, which only serves to discredit the protesters' message. And it can only provoke others to violence, not discourage them.

You're right Chris, they blew their cover with the rocks and masks when they should have shown up with a coffee mug in one hand, a donut in the other, put out lawn chairs, beer cans (full) stuffed in their pockets, played some hackeysack and made goo-goo eyes at Maudie Barlow, the rest of the union protesters (heh heh) would have been none the wiser. Chalk it up to inexperience.
