Am I a Liberal Quiz

This morning, everything is in flux. Gilles Duceppe is looking to escape a boat with a slow leak by hopping onto a sinking ship. Gerry Nicholls is shouting mad that the Tories to take advantage of his self-proclaimed, "top 5 political minds in the country". Libby Davies wants Stephen Harper to remain Prime Minister. You are probably wondering: where do I fit in this confused picture? Help, to help you out, I have a simple quiz that will determine whether all these machinations suddenly mean you are a Liberal.

Q1. There should be an election right now because

a) The Conservatives have abandoned the Kyoto protocol thus ensuring the end of the world.
b) Never has a budget done so little with so much.
c) Canada needs Stephane Dion's leadership.
d) Its been a rough week for the government and maybe we can capitalize on that.

Q2. The situation of Taliban detainees in Afghanistan is

a) Shocking - even evil bastards deserve better.
b) Meh - what are you going to do short of running the country yourself?
c) Something we have to work on with our international partners and the Afghan government.
d) Something we knew about all along, but didn't mind so long as we had the limos.

Q3. The Gun Registry

a) Saves lives. Let's keep it, no matter the costs.
b) Is useless and wasteful. Let's scrap it.
c) Should be kept, but needs a full cost review.
d) Doesn't apply to us, because we commit our gun crimes with illegal guns.

Q4. The new Tory Climate Change plan

a) is a better plan than a Canadian government has ever produced.
b) is a tragedy for Canada.
c) is too harsh on the economy for the measly gains it will produce.
d) doesn't go far enough - it should at least have forced us to keep our own promises about certain coal plants.

If you answered (d) to all four questions, guess what? You are a Liberal!

The situation now reminds me of the final scene in "The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly". The three main characters standing around in a circle, guns pulled, pointing back and forth at each of the other two.

We are at the stage where the three bad guys all have their six shooters pointed at our lone good guy. Who happens to have an (unregistered) machine gun hidden in his coat pocket.

Fast forward to an election campaign. Those three bad guys will now be spending about half their time shooting at each other. While our good guy will be blasting away mercilessly at all three of them with his machine gun.

A scary thought for them, but hugely entertaining for the Harpermaniacs in the audience. Especially when Lizzie May gets thrown into the circle.

Beutiful isn't it???

Thank god, I thought my Green membership entitled me now to be an honorary Liberal!

Q5. Canada is not a "conservative" country, because

d) 65% of Canadians voted for the 'left' (Liberal, NDP, BQ, Green)
d) The MSM tells us that Conservatives are bad and Liberals are good.
d) Canadians are NOT Americans, and in fact it's okay to hate those bastards.
d) Ottawa, not Toronto is the centre of the universe for Canadians.

"We are at the stage where the three bad guys all have their six shooters pointed at our lone good guy."

But you have to add into the mix all those disappointed, disaffected conservatives who are now whining that Mr. Harper has abandoned conservative principles.
I'm all for principles, but a high dose of realism and pragmatism is also called for. If Mr. Harper wants to stay in power - long may he stay! - he had/has to move to the centre.
I'm hoping Mr. Harper will weather the artificial storms created by the opposition of alleged Afghanistan prisoner abuse and the so-called failings of Minister Baird's proposed environmental regulations until the summer break, so that Parliament can come back in the fall with the Conservatives' renewed vigour.

"A scary thought for them, but hugely entertaining for the Harpermaniacs in the audience. Especially when Lizzie May gets thrown into the circle."

Let's not forget about the derringer tucked into his sock. Those things will a guy itch for a week.

Has anyone else made the comparison that Mr. Dion looks disturbingly similiar to Jean Seberg?

Perhaps I'm on drugs...

Reach for the skies!

Gabby,

I'm ignoring them as a means of dealing with them civilly.

I'll say again though:

the largest leap in government sizing would have been national daycare. It would have become a bureaucratic goliath (as you know, my fellow Quebecker) and created a whole new dependency class.

this alone qualifies as true blue conservative rescue.

"I'm ignoring them as a means of dealing with them civilly."

Well, congratulations on your "sang froid."
I have been throttling nay-sayers and finger-pointers like Gerry Nichols - metaphorically, of course.
Even Brigitte Pellerin, usually a pro-conservative pundit, yesterday on Revue Politique was very critical of the government. What would she have them do - ignore all the cries of "KYOTO! What do we want? We want it NOW!" echoing throughout this vast land? But the minute people learn it might involve costs for them personally, then they start howling about who's going to replace their fancy-schmancy chandeliers where they cannot use the twisty fluorescent bulbs.
Fair weather friends - who needs them?

And what to say about St. Suzuki, who waylaid Minister Baird in Toronto yesterday? He's really out of his tree! A few carbon footprints should be firmly imprinted on his posterior!

Sorry - I know I'm all over the map with my rant. Must try to stay focused ...

lol! Chucker, this is an awesome post!

Gabby, you're in fine form today!

He's really out of his tree! A few carbon footprints should be firmly imprinted on his posterior!

Priceless!!!

Carry on, Gabby, you seem to be on a roll!

Great post, chucker

I believe the answer is a and d for Q1, Q2, and Q3.

"Gabby, you're in fine form today!"
"Carry on, Gabby, you seem to be on a roll!"

Thanks! *blush*
It must be the influence of CC, JTrueBlue & their witty posters.

Ipsos: CPC 38%, Libs 31%

Tempted to make a comment about Decima...but I don't want to get sued.

Decima poll question:

Do you support:

A) Hugs from Mom, apple pie, and the Liberals?

OR

B) Cancer, nuclear war, and the Conservative Conspiracy?

What's happening now in Canadian politics shows that there isn't a cock the politicans won't suck to gain a few points in a fucking poll.
Here's another thing that pisses me off: If a Canadian soldier gets killed in an accident here in Canada, all we hear is ZIP. Why is the death of a soldier on home soil less newsworthy than a soldier's death on foreign soil?
Because the fucking politicans and CBC and CTV made it a smear issue against the current government if one of ours dies in A'STAN. If he dies in Canada WHILE TRAINING TO GO TO A'STAN, he's just another fucking number.
Shows what we have become, eh?
Say a prayer for all our heros, no matter where they fall,lads.... and fuck the pols, CBC and CTV!

fuck the polls? harper is best at fucking polls. that fucking closet gay prick. come out already!

yeah it's me "911 is an inside job." jacobin.

missed me? idiots!

old squid, haven't you figured it out yet man? for fuck sakes, what does it take? harper, nor any government figure head, puppet prick, gives a rats ass about you or me, let alone soldiers that sign there life away, to serve the elite ,as pawns.

never trust freedom when it's not in your hands!

hey, gabby, chew on this

Jaco:

Gag on this.

jacobin,

I for one do miss you.

And, selfishly, I miss the comments you generate.

Squid,

the same damn thought runs through my mind. If soldiers die from a falling apart helicopter, there's scant attention - but if a bad guy kills a soldier, well, then, shit! there's something wrong with the government.

Since you seemingly fashion yourself as one of Robespierre's disciples, you will surely be able to digest this in its original French version. Bonne lecture!

PS: I wouldn't rely solely on Reuters. Remember their "fauxtoshopping" adventures during last summer's Lebanese-Israeli conflict?

If Taliban or al Qaida operatives were caught in Canada and put in detention by the RCMP...

The first thing they'd say at every opportunity to any member of the MSM who would listen would be that they were tortured.

And I would not be surprised in the slightest that the Libs or Dippers would believe every word of it.

Captured al Qaida handbooks instruct them to do precisely that.

...because al Qaida leaders understand perfectly the hordes brainless dolts we have here in the west who are complete suckers for such bullshit, ready to suck up every drop of it and make it into national headlines.

Hey Jaco,
...Appeasment is Collaboration...
...Collaboration is Appeasment...
The commies..er..socialists all know who their friends are eh!

Squid,

During the 1990's, almost as many Canadian soldiers died in the former Yugoslavia while on "blue beret peacekeeping" missions as that have died in Afghanistan, yet their deaths were lucky to end up on page A16. Many of those deaths were from hostile actions perpetrated by Serbs/Croats/Bosnians.

As well, the Battle of the Medak Pocket, where Canadians engaged with the Croatian Army in the largest battle since Korea, was hidden from the Canadian public. It was not until the vets came home and journalists started to hear these stories that it came to light. To her credit, Pretender Queen Adrienne I was absolutely livid that the heroic actions of 2PPCLI in that battle were swept under the rug by the Chretien Liberals.

Why is it that Calgary Republikans are always planning mass murder with Machine Guns????

You would think given the events of the past week, that they would see the futility of their ways in obtaining political change.

Unfortunately, these mentally challenged creatures are stuck in an evolutionary time warp of suspended authentication.

There is no need to "hate gringos", but its just fine to hate their works, including Korporate Amerika.

Arar was not a member of Al Quada, he was a Canadian citizen that was kidnapped by Amerikan Republikans like Springer, and then sent to secret US offshore jails for torture.

As for the Canadian authorities, they have acted no better, by breaking long standing international law respecting the prohibitions against TORTURE applies to ANYONE, soldier or otherwise.

But lower life forms like Springer just cannot figure it out. This right wing crazy in Southern Alberta actually believes that American troops will continue to be welcomed as "liberators".

I say, "In a pigs eye!'

joe green,

you're really psychols, right?

Crazy Joe Green opined thusly:

"In a pig's eye"

I replied thusly: bwahahahaa..., Joe, the chemist called, your prescription is ready: take two in the a.m., two in the afternoon and two before bed, if the prescribed dosage has no effect double said dosage until sanity has been achieved...oh, and please refrain from mixing your daily 26'er with the meds, good luck my boy.
