If I were Don Newman on Next Friday's Politics

Don Newman: you know them well, its our press gallery pundits. Susan Delacourt and Jim Traverse from the red Star, Rob Russo from Canadian Press, Greg Weston from the Ottawa Sun and Chris Hall from the CBC. Now, last week, as objective journalists in pursuit of the truth, we were smearing the RCMP for supposedly leaking the potential witness list for the Air India Inquiry. Unfortunately, we know now that this was utterly false misinformation we were spreading. Jim Traverse, do you feel sleazy for doing this?

Jim Traverse: Ummm. Uhhh.

Don Newman: Susan Delacourt, any opinion on the line we crossed between reporting on facts and feeding the public the the Liberal party line?

Susan Delacourt: Oooo. Ahhhh. Ummmm.

Don Newman: Greg Weston, last week, you said nothing has changed in the polls for the Prime Minister since eleciton day - conveniently overlooking the massive increases in leadership numbers he receives in polling. Do you feel badly about glossing over reality in order to communicate your pet message?

Greg Weston: Stephen Harper is mean. I didn't get invited to his Christmas party.

Don Newman: Rob Russo - follow up to you. Don't you think its our responsibility now to clarify that our speculation of political interference from the RCMP was utter bullshit so that the public does not remain misinformed by our fantasy making?

Rob Russo: Gabba, yabba, gabba, doooo.

Don Newman: Chris Hall, I'm not getting much out of the rest of this bunch. Do you feel any shame for trying to divert the attention of Canadians from what could be a potentially explosive story of ethnic politicking in the Liberal party. We were pretty quiet about what was going on on the convention floor - should we continue to do so?

Chris Hall: Yes.

Don Newman: Yes, we should set the record straight?

Chris Hall: No. Yes, we were pretty quiet.

Don Newman: Sorry folks, time's up. That's the broawwwwdcast. Tune in next week when our pundits will continue to discuss the perfection and majesty of the Liberal party.

Ha-ha! That was good, Chucker. Thanks for the link too. Unfortunately, I just changed the channel to Caledonia, but I'm sure your readers will find the relevant information if they just scroll down a bit.

I always wondered what Newman would do it he had a real job? He would get tiring fast selling liberalism at McD's.
(real conservative)

I would pay money to actually see that on air! Ha!

Slightly off topic, but I read in Saturday's National Post that PM Harper is creating more National Parks . Unfortunately, a subscription is needed to read it online.

"A vast swath of northern wilderness almost the size of Newfoundland will be given national park or protected status this year, preserving ecological jewels deemed critical to Canadian watersheds and wildlife and helping the fight against climate change."

IMHO, preserving vast swaths of wilderness is a much more effective means of environmental protection than sending billions in "carbon credits" to Mo Strong's bank account in Beijing...

Awesome move by Harper with the parks!

That was funny.

The last word should go to Don Newman where he says that he needs to get some more "coffee".....(hint, hint)

Newman's never struck as an unobjective Liberal, not as much as many others on CBC such as the card carrying Julie Van Duusen.

Newman mainly annoys me for his lack of control of his pundits. He lets way too much go and never calls them on their BS.

The inside of my nose is crustier than usual today.

vaporub - steam sheena, steam...

Did you read Weston's bilious crap today? Apparently it's OK with him if customs officers leave their posts 44 times in a year because armed criminals were coming their way...Much better that than equip them for their jobs and add another nail to the coffin of the Trudeupian dream. Torontocentric morons like Weston need to spend a night on the border alone. That might focus their attention on the "Canadian values" of guarding a border unarmed.

I googled that Weston article just now - it seems to make some fair points. A billion dollars does seem an awful lot.

I think it is fine to arm border guards - the idea doesn't "frighten" or "alarm" me or whatever a lot of chatterers might say, but I wonder how cost effective this is.

Frankly, the border does not frighten me at all. A billion dollars put into more concrete security seems more bang-for-buck, I guess.

I watched QP today with Janey and Craigy, and I was surprised!!! I didn't know that little Jane Taber wasn't a Canadian.

She was interviewing Stockwell Day, and in a lead-up to a pointed put-down question, she said, "Your prime minister...."

Shouldn't it have been "our" prime minister? I wrote to CTV once before when she made a snide comment about the prime minister wearing a wife-beater (t-shirt) outside making an announcement during the balmy winter that Ottawa used to have. I was sent an e-mail from the producer saying that Janie made a mistake, and that she apologized profusely after the show. Sure.

So, what's the excuse today....for saying "Your prime minister".

He's Canada's prime minister, Janie. I can't stand that female, she's a true a**hole of the female persuasion.

Jane, you ignorant slut!

If I'm Don Newman,I get Gore, Dion and Layton together and take themn all out, including myself. Now that's patriotic.

This year, April Fools is really Christmas for Conservatives.

Jane Taber doesn't even attempt to hide her partisanship. I don't understand how CTV can pretend to call QP a news program. It is a Liberal attack ad, funded by CTV's sponsors.

"In an attrition battle reminiscent of some episodes of the Conservative civil war of the 1990s, progressive candidates are poised to take each other out of the game from coast to coast in the next federal election.

Within the confines of party backrooms, that makes eminent sense. The Liberals and the Greens have a common interest in wiping the NDP off the map and vice-versa. And no Liberal recovery can happen in Quebec without knocking off the left wing of the Bloc.

In the larger fight against the born-again Conservative party of Stephen Harper though, that amounts to a zero-sum game. It may take a Harper majority to get a divided progressive movement to pay attention to the consequences of splitting its votes two, three and even four ways."

Note: the Conservatives are born sagain. The Liberal, NDP, Green and Bloc are progressive. For those who believe the MSM and Hebert are unbiased.

Could be worse. This kind of hatchet job is de riguer in the Maritimes.

Though he was honest when he said:

"Some people will read that and say, “ Big deal, all journalists are liberals anyway." They’d be mostly right. Most of us are indeed urban, middle- class liberals with that point of view embedded in our collective consciousness. That doesn’t make it right, but it’s true".

Kiefer, I live in Halifax, what a joke. Dan Leger is the biggest Liberal apologist/shill in the local media. Conservative, small c, or otherwise, what a joke.

It would make a good drinking game to have a shot every time CTV, CBC or the G&M run interference for the Liberals.

Unfortunately there just isn't enough booze.

Shitstorm has started, eh?

One source says the documentary will air on Discovery in the US on Sunday, Mar. 4, 9:00 EST.

Another says it airs on Discovery in Canada on Friday night.

Me thinks you all definitely want to watch this one.

Predictably, the documentary is being condemned from every imaginable critic...forget that not a fucking one of them has seen it yet.

Gored.

Via Bourque, Jason Cherniak has taken dumberer to a whole new level.

Law school ain't what it used to be.
